FIVE MARKS OF A DISCIPLE: OCTOBER 5 – NOVEMBER 2

Posts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: Fasting builds intimacy with God, and encourages you to grow inwardly, upwardly, and outwardly. Explore five marks of a transformed disciple of Jesus and determine five actions that will allow God to change you. An action that applies to each mark is focus. Fasting and prayer is God’s way for us to find the kind of focus that builds intimacy within and actions without. Be with Him. Be like Him. Do what He wants.

COMING NEXT! MAKING SPACE: NOVEMBER 4 – NOVEMBER 27

Reflect on how to use fasting to make more space for God in your life. Make space in the moment and better reflect God to others. Make space in the morning and enjoy intimacy with Him. Make space in your conversations with others and learn how to listen like He does. Make space in your schedule to breathe and be refreshed by Him. Make space in your commitments so that you can say Yes! to the things He wants you to do. God made a space in this world for us. Let’s return the favor!

  • Reasons to Fast

    Reasons to Fast

There isn’t just one reason to fast. The Bible is full of situations where fasting takes place for personal, family and national reasons. And God probably doesn’t care what our reason is, just that we set aside special time to fast and be with Him. Intentionality will keep our focus strong! Here are a few…

  • How does fasting work?

    How does fasting work?

We can learn a few things from Jesus’ experience in the wilderness to make our own fast successful: Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted and eaten nothing for forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And…

    What am I fasting for?

My post-COVID-19 journey led me to stop. God led me to meditate on Isaiah 58 often and it initiated an intimate dialogue with God about fasting and justice! I share my own fasting journey on this blog and hope you leave inspired and motivated for a specific vision and a plan for action for your…

  • Day 30: God’s Response

God says: I am now going to woo her. I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. And on that day, I will say to her, “You will call Me Husband and no longer Master.” I will betroth you to Me forever. I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in…

  • Day 29: Dinner Guests

Parables of the Guests: Jesus said, Whenever you are invited to a wedding feast, don’t take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished may have been invited. Instead, go and take the last place and the one who has invited you may say, “Friend, move up higher.” For everyone who exalts himself will be…

  • Day 28: Feeding the Hungry

Jesus withdrew to a secluded place, and when the people heard, they followed Him on foot from the cities. When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd and felt compassion for them and healed their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and it is…

  • Day 27: Satisfied

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Matthew 5: 6 Jesus taught what is known as the Beatitudes or the Blessings, to start off His Sermon on the Mount. I love that He began this teaching by defining what it means to follow Him in such a positive…
