FASTING IN THE BIBLE, APRIL 8 – MAY 29

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about fasting in the Bible. We will review the whole Bible, exploring what happened when fasting was a special focus for the people of Israel, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Keeping in mind the way that Jesus taught us to fast, we will find new ways for us to enact a spiritual habit of fasting in our modern lives.

COMING NEXT: HUNGER FOR THE HARVEST, JUNE 2 AUGUST 21

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about the connection between fasting and His harvest. We will explore together how fasting increases your hunger for God, creating a position of humility that thirsts for holy intimacy and holy maturity. A Season of Seeds Day 3: Shelter Your Neighbor

The man asked, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going from Jerusalem to Jericho who was stripped, beaten and left half dead by robbers. A priest and a Levite man passed by him, on the other side of the road. But a Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him and…

A Season of Seeds Day 2: Feed My Sheep

When day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples did not know that it was Him. Jesus said, “Friends, have you caught any fish? Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find fish.” Peter recognized it was the Lord, jumped in and swam for the shore.…

A Season of Seeds Day 1: Hunger for His Coming Harvest

Commit this season of celebrating the Christ-child as a season of planting seeds! Jesus stood up to read the scroll of Isaiah: The Spirit of the LORD is on Me, because He has anointed Me to bring a message of good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for those who…

Honor the Hungry Day 7: Bold

Because of Christ, the veil of death, fading glory and condemnation is removed. Because of the Spirit, we have new life, freedom and are transformed. So, we can be bold, with confidence. Honor the Hungry Day 6: Never Fail

This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who relies on human strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. That person will be like a stunted shrub in the wastelands. They will not see prosperity when it comes. They will live in the parched places of the…

Honor the Hungry Day 4: Focus

Thomas Edison said, “A good intention, with a bad approach, often leads to a poor result.” To honor the hungry and love our neighbor as ourselves, we must actually do something, and we must focus our minds, hearts and actions. It is an intensity of spirit, not just an intention, that allows God to work…

Honor the Hungry Day 3: Passion

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Cor 1:…

  • Honor the Hungry Day 2: Serving

Honor the Hungry Day 2: Serving

Consider your spiritual gift and serve someone a tall drink of God’s living water (John 4:10)! As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God … whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which…

Honor the Hungry Day 1: God Says …

Is this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free and break every yoke? Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into the house? And when you see the…
