HABITS OF JESUS, MARCH 12 – APRIL 4

Coming Next: FASTING IN THE BIBLE, APRIL 8 – MAY 29

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about fasting in the Bible. We will review the whole Bible, exploring what happened when fasting was a special focus for the people of Israel, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Keeping in mind the way that Jesus taught us to fast, we will find new ways for us to enact a spiritual habit of fasting in our modern lives.

A Season of Harvest Day 21: Response to Harvest

The baby Jesus was sent by God to become the Lord of the Harvest which He planned to do from the beginning of time. God wants our participation as workers in His harvest (Matthew 9:38). In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, sitting on a throne, and the…

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s special possession, so that you may declare the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. For once you had no identity as a people, but now you are the people of God.…

But when the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, subject to the Law. God sent Him that He might redeem those who were slaves to the Law, that we might receive our adoption as sons and daughters. Because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son…

A Season of Harvest Day 15: Family Legacy

Ruth blended herself into Naomi’s family and became one of the seeds of the lineage of David. Jesus, the baby born in the manger, came from that same line! Ruth, whose husband had died, said to Naomi, her mother-in-law, “Do not plead with me to leave you or to turn back from following you to…

A Season of Harvest Day 14: Humbly Born

Clothe yourselves with humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God and at the right time He will lift you up. 1 Peter 5: 5-6 John the Baptist is a beautiful example of someone clothed with…

A Season of Harvest Day 13: The Really Good News

The Scriptures tell us that Abraham believed God and he was counted as right with God because of his faith. When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. People are counted as right with God, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives…

A Season of Harvest Day 12: Hungry and Naked without a Home

Jesus was born in a manger, hungry and naked, without a home (Luke 2:16). The younger of two sons asked for his share of his father’s estate and the father’s wealth was divided. This prodigal son went away and squandered it with wild living. The only job he could get was in the fields feeding…
