HABITS OF JESUS, MARCH 12 – APRIL 4

Daily posts to learn more about how Jesus modeled His life for us. For 21 days leading up to Easter, explore the habits of Jesus that kept Him hungering for His Father and continuing His mission. Even though He was separated from Him on earth and about to be separated in a different way by His death on the cross, He was faithful and believed in His resurrection.

Coming Next: FASTING IN THE BIBLE, APRIL 8 – MAY 29

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about fasting in the Bible. We will review the whole Bible, exploring what happened when fasting was a special focus for the people of Israel, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Keeping in mind the way that Jesus taught us to fast, we will find new ways for us to enact a spiritual habit of fasting in our modern lives.

Habits of Jesus Day 3: Put On Love

Jesus presents love as an enduring habit that we must all wear: love God, love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22: 37-39), and love your enemies (Matthew 5:44). This was a habit He wore the whole time He was on earth, so must we. But how? We all want to put on clothes that are…

    Fast Day 12: New Clothing

We all want to put on clothes that are well-fitting, attractive, serviceable and appropriate! And we would never knowingly let our children leave the house with dirty or torn clothes that are too small, unless they are making mud pies or building a treehouse! But what about how we clothe ourselves spiritually? That old life…

A Season of Harvest Day 4: Love the Hungry

Which commandment is the most important of all? Jesus answered … You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12: 28-31 Loving God with everything…

Hunger for the Harvest Day 12: Fruit of Humility

With all humility, gentleness, and patience, show tolerance for one another. This is love. Eph 4:2 We might think there is humility in someone who bows downs, lowers their eyes, and waits for instructions, like a servant. But after reading this verse, the more biblical picture God brings to mind for me is someone who…

Planting Seeds for the Stranger Day 6: Relationships

Children, “honor your father and mother” as the first commandment says. This also has a promise attached to it, “live well and have a long life.” Fathers, don’t frustrate your children with your authority. Take them by the hand and lead them by example in the way of the Master. Workers, respectfully obey your earthly…
