HABITS OF JESUS, MARCH 12 – APRIL 4

Daily posts to learn more about how Jesus modeled His life for us. For 21 days leading up to Easter, explore the habits of Jesus that kept Him hungering for His Father and continuing His mission. Even though He was separated from Him on earth and about to be separated in a different way by His death on the cross, He was faithful and believed in His resurrection.

Coming Next: FASTING IN THE BIBLE, APRIL 8 – MAY 29

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about fasting in the Bible. We will review the whole Bible, exploring what happened when fasting was a special focus for the people of Israel, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Keeping in mind the way that Jesus taught us to fast, we will find new ways for us to enact a spiritual habit of fasting in our modern lives.

30 Day Fast Feedback

As I finished my 30 Day Fast a few days ago, I was curious how it went for those of you fasting alongside me. Fasting is an inward discipline, but can have a corporate aspect. We can encourage each other in this discipline and in our walk with God. My hope is that you will grace me and the other people who fasted with some feedback.

After fasting twice a year and one day a week for many years, I must admit that this is the first time that the diet aspect was not in my thoughts at all! I realized how I had wasted time in previous fasts ensuring that I also lost some weight. Not a bad thing, but it was not my focus this time. You know how special meal planning goes. It takes a lot of time to organize your life and eating patterns accordingly. This time my focus was on more time for intimacy with God. And He was there with me in newer and stronger ways.

A special focus for this fast was also asking Him how to more closely partner with the spiritual soulmate He has provided! Ideas and encouragement for new ways to minister together were made clearer. The wedding is February 14, 2026!

I long to know how you experienced meeting with God while fasting, what you learned about yourself, your life and our Lord, and how life might be different for you going forward.

The current series of posts is about New Habits that God might have led you to adopt. Read them carefully and move into those new habits with His power and freedom!
