FASTING IN THE BIBLE, APRIL 8 – MAY 29

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about fasting in the Bible. We will review the whole Bible, exploring what happened when fasting was a special focus for the people of Israel, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Keeping in mind the way that Jesus taught us to fast, we will find new ways for us to enact a spiritual habit of fasting in our modern lives.

Parables of the Guests: Jesus said, Whenever you are invited to a wedding feast, don’t take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished may have been invited. • Day 24: Compassion

Seeing the crowds, Jesus felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9: 36 The Lord of the Universe loves us in tangible ways!He binds our wounds (Psalms 147:3).He teaches us to walk and takes us in His arms (Hosea 11:3).He bends down and feeds us (Hosea…

You there! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. You who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what does not give you strength and your labor for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me and eat what…

  • Day 22: Crying Out

I will bless the LORD at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the LORD. The humble will hear it and rejoice. Exalt the LORD with me and let’s exalt His name together. I sought the LORD and He answered me, and rescued me from…
