FASTING IN THE BIBLE, APRIL 8 – MAY 29

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about fasting in the Bible. We will review the whole Bible, exploring what happened when fasting was a special focus for the people of Israel, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Keeping in mind the way that Jesus taught us to fast, we will find new ways for us to enact a spiritual habit of fasting in our modern lives.

COMING NEXT: HUNGER FOR THE HARVEST, JUNE 2 AUGUST 21

Posts every Wednesday and Friday to learn about the connection between fasting and His harvest. We will explore together how fasting increases your hunger for God, creating a position of humility that thirsts for holy intimacy and holy maturity. • Day 21: Answering

Hear me, LORD, and answer me. For I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am faithful to You. Save Your servant who trusts in You. You are my God, be gracious to me. Lord, I call to You all day long. Bring joy to Your servant, for to You, Lord, I lift…

  • Day 20: Wisdom

The LORD holds success in store for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the course of the just. He protects the path of His faithful ones. Then you will discern what is the right, just and fair way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart and…

  • Day 19: Seeking

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life – whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food and clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, because your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you…

  • Day 18: Generous

If there is a poor person among you … you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand but shall fully open your hand to him and generously lend him enough for his need in whatever he lacks. Be careful that there is no mean-spirited thought in your heart … you shall generously give…

  • Day 17: Clinging

You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him, and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him and cling to Him. Deuteronomy 13:4 With passion I pursue and cling to You. Because I feel your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to Your heart. Psalms 63:8 (TPT)…

Jesus had a busy day: He said to Simon and Andrew, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” IMMEDIATELY they left their nets and followed Him. And going on a little farther, He saw James and John. IMMEDIATELY He called them and they went away to follow Him. They went into Capernaum…

  • Day 15: Watered

This is what the LORD, who made you and formed you in the womb, says, “Do not fear, for I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit on your children and My blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in…

  • Day 14: Springs of Water

Jeremiah preached, “Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the LORD says: For my people have committed evil. They have abandoned Me, the spring of living water. They have carved out for themselves broken cisterns that do not hold water.” Jeremiah 2: 13 Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet (Jeremiah 13:17). He wept…

  • Day 13: Inner Change

Now in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, “Change your ways, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” The prophet Isaiah spoke of him, “He is the voice calling from the wilderness for all to prepare the way of the LORD.” John himself had a garment of…

  • Day 12: New Clothing

That old life is like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you have put on a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with His label on it. All the old fashions are obsolete. Words like Jewish and…
