30 DAY FAST, SEPTEMBER 1 – SEPTEMBER 30 (Join any time, see how to prepare below.)

Early morning posts every day: 30 days of fasting does not mean you do not eat for 30 days! A fast can be many things. Normally it is a plan to deny yourself some kind of food or something that is habitual. You want the lack of it to be noticed regularly by your body and your mind. And you want to experience a sort of hunger for it. It can be a good thing or a bad thing. A fast, by design, will turn your thoughts toward God when the moment comes that you say No. These posts will help you prepare and focus on how He will spiritually provide what you need, in the moment and beyond.

Evening posts every day: Personal posts from me that share my own daily experience of fasting, encourage tasting the sweetness of our Lord before sleep, and prepare us for an ever deeper renewal in the morning.

Fast Day 1 Evening Prayer

I humbled my soul with fasting, and prayer was constantly on my mind. Psalms 35: 13

Dearest Father,

For this first day of fasting, I come to you with humility and confession. I thought about food more than You. Even though I have fasted many times, I know it is hard to convert my hunger for food (or whatever You have led me to abstain from) into hunger for You. I petition You to once again accustom my thoughts towards You alone when I am hungry and feel lack. I need You to provide Your food for my bodily needs, as You have always done. I am full of thanksgiving, because I know You will answer this prayer above and beyond what I can now imagine. I reach out in praise because You are the Lord of the universe and I humbly seat You on the throne of my life as the Lord of me. Your overwhelming love and peace is all I need to continue to reach out to You alone. I am all Yours,

Amanda

This is my prayer, but you may pray this alongside me, or write your own, using your experience today. Try to include these four kinds of prayer:

Confession

Petition

Thanksgiving

Praise

Have a restful sleep. God is watching over you and He is excited to build a stronger connection with you tomorrow!
