30 DAY FAST, SEPTEMBER 1 – SEPTEMBER 30 (Join any time, see how to prepare below.)

Early morning posts every day: 30 days of fasting does not mean you do not eat for 30 days! A fast can be many things. Normally it is a plan to deny yourself some kind of food or something that is habitual. You want the lack of it to be noticed regularly by your body and your mind. And you want to experience a sort of hunger for it. It can be a good thing or a bad thing. A fast, by design, will turn your thoughts toward God when the moment comes that you say No. These posts will help you prepare and focus on how He will spiritually provide what you need, in the moment and beyond.

Evening posts every day: Personal posts from me that share my own daily experience of fasting, encourage tasting the sweetness of our Lord before sleep, and prepare us for an ever deeper renewal in the morning.

by Amanda Bew

Fast Night 17: Yield

With passion I pursue and cling to You. I yield. Ps 63: 8

“Spiritual passion is a strong internal emotion that inspires devotion and dedication. It’s what makes it easier to stick to it, to follow through, and to enjoy, not just endure.” These words from my own morning blog speak to me this evening, along with the question, “What could this kind of clinging look like?”

In Bible study last night we studied physical and spiritual hospitality. The concept that keeps twirling around in my head and my heart is one of surrender, yielding, and clinging. In the same way that the best host yields to the desires of his guests when planning a menu and the programme for the evening, for me to be the best host for the power of Holy Spirit, I must surrender my own wants and preferences. Fasting positions me to long for this, and clinging like a child, helps me make space for the confidence and passion I need to serve my Lord well.

Father God, I yield to Your plan. I cling to Your heart. Impassion me to serve others well. Amen.
